Police arrested greater than two dozen pro-Palestinian protestors who disrupted the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, in response to the New York Police Department (NYPD).
The NYPD informed The Hill that 25 protesters have been arrested on trespassing fees. Protesters reportedly jumped police barricades, with pictures circulated on-line exhibiting demonstrators sitting within the roadway at fifty fifth Street and sixth Avenue with parade floats stopped close by.
Local outlet ABC7 reported the parade was delayed for about 5 minutes whereas the protesters have been faraway from the highway.
All of the demonstrators have been launched as of Friday, in response to the NYPD.
This the second yr in a row that pro-Palestinian protesters have used the nationally televised parade to name for a ceasefire in Gaza amid practically 14 months of battle following Palestinian militant group Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, invasion of Israel.
Earlier this week, President Biden applauded a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, which went into impact Wednesday. It’s been touted as a step towards broader potential peace negotiations within the space, but each side have already accused the opposite of violating the deal.
Biden has pushed for months to safe a ceasefire and hostage launch deal between Israel and Hamas, and stated Tuesday he would make a brand new push for a ceasefire in Gaza within the coming days.
