1,600-year-old burials in Crimea maintain gold and silver jewellery from ‘wealthy ladies’


Archaeologists have unearthed gold and silver jewellery at an early-medieval burial floor close to the town of Sevastopol in Crimea.

The new finds point out that the burial floor — the Almalyk-dere necropolis on the Mangup plateau, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) east of Sevastopol — was for elite members of a society that unfold throughout southwestern Crimea from the late fourth century till the sixth century.
