Bill Murray Defends ‘SNL’ And Says He’d Like To Host Again

As Saturday Night Live marks its fiftieth season, Bill Murray hopes to have a homecoming quickly.

The Oscar nominee stated he’d “definitely” prefer to return as a number for its present milestone season, defending the NBC sketch comedy present’s present artistic staff towards criticism.

“People all the time give me a tough time about, ‘Oh, the unique present was so nice and it’s awful now,’” Murray stated on the New Heights podcast. “And I say, ‘No, it’s not.’ The present that’s on now, they do stuff that’s simply pretty much as good as anyone ever did, on a regular basis.”

Before his beloved roles in Caddyshack (1980), Stripes (1981) and Ghostbusters (1984), Murray was a author and forged member on SNL from 1977 to 1980. He was identified for such characters as Dick Lanky, Francis Jocko Leary Jr. and Honker. The actor has since hosted the present 5 instances.

“I advised ’em I’d prefer to host one this 12 months,” stated Murray. “So, perhaps if I get organized. I feel I did it two different instances once I was there. I’d prefer to attempt it another time. It is likely to be the final time to attempt it.”

Murray’s feedback come after SNL introduced former forged members Chris Rock and Martin Short will return to host the Dec. 14 and Dec. 21 episodes, respectively, together with musical company Gracie Abrams and Hozier.

Created by Lorne Michaels in 1975, SNL will rejoice its fiftieth anniversary with a primetime particular Sunday, Feb. 16.
