President Biden is granting clemency to 37 of the 40 federal inmates facing death sentences. Their sentences can be commuted to life in jail with out the potential for parole.
The three inmates who did not get clemency are the convicted assassin within the Tree of Life Synagogue capturing, the gunman at Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, and the surviving Boston Marathon bomber.
The announcement is certain to spark partisan debate, regardless that presidential commutation and pardon energy are broad, constitutionally enshrined and irreversible.
