Auroras may gentle up the skies on Christmas, because of a strong photo voltaic flare heading towards Earth

This Christmas Day, the skies could add to the festive cheer with a show of auroras, because of a blob of charged particles enroute to ship a “glancing blow” to our planet following a strong M8.9 photo voltaic flare.

High-latitude areas within the U.S., together with northern Montana, Minnesota and North Dakota, could witness auroral shows late on Wednesday (Dec. 25), in accordance with geomagnetic storm watch issued by the Space Weather Prediction Center, a part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
