Authorities in Mississippi stated Wednesday {that a} convicted killer has been recaptured a day after he escaped from jail. They had warned the general public earlier that Drew Johnson, 33, could possibly be “determined” and “very harmful.”
The Mississippi Department of Corrections said Johnson was captured “in an space close to the South Mississippi Correctional Institution (SMCI), the place he escaped on Tuesday afternoon.” SMCI is positioned close to the city of Leakesville.

In a Facebook post Tuesday evening, the George County Sheriff’s Office urged the general public to be cautious. “He can be determined and really very harmful. Call your loved ones and alert them. Johnson was convicted of murder/homicide in February 2022 in Rankin County, Mississippi, and sentenced to a life time period.
