Adele tune ‘Million Years Ago’ banned globally over plagiarism lawsuit


Adele has been accused of plagiarizing on her 2015 tune “Million Years Ago.”

Toninho Geraes, who wrote the Brazilian tune, initially sued Adele, 36, for plagiarism in 2021.

In the injunction, Adele’s labels had been ordered to cease “instantly and globally, from utilizing, reproducing, enhancing, distributing or commercializing” her ballad.

“International producers and artists who’ve Brazilian music ‘on their radar’ for attainable parasitic use will assume twice, given this resolution,” Geraes’ lawyer, Fredimio Trotta, advised the AFP.

Adele’s “Million Years Ago” was beforehand accused of plagiarism in 2015 by followers of the late Kurdish singer Ahmet Kaya. They claimed Adele’s tune was a rip off of Kaya’s 1985 tune “Acilara Tutunmak”

However, there was by no means a authorized battle over the claims.
