Beijing decries South Korean chief Yoon’s ‘Chinese spy’ defence of martial legislation


China has hit again at South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol’s allegations of Chinese espionage in his defence of his choice to declare martial legislation, calling the claims “deeply unsettling”.

In a speech on Thursday, Yoon mentioned his martial legislation decree final week was a response to his political opponents blocking laws to forestall Chinese spying, citing two circumstances of alleged Chinese spies concentrating on US and South Korean navy services in June and November.

Chinese international ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning mentioned Beijing was “deeply shocked” by the feedback and located them “deeply unsettling”.
