A countdown began earlier this month on Trudeau’s days in workplace after Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland resigned from his cupboard. On Friday, Trudeau’s former chief adviser Gerry Butts thought it was “unlikely” that Trudeau would lead the Liberal Party within the subsequent election.

Butts wrote in a Substack newsletter that Freeland’s resignation was a giant blow for the celebration, and it might imply that Trudeau’s political destiny is sealed.
