I do not make express resolutions anymore.
I’ve imprecise needs – that this can be the 12 months I’ll meditate, or return to my college-level French, or lastly learn “Moby Dick.” Call my dad extra.
But as I watch my kids develop – for kids are the actual markers of a 12 months flying by – instantly my son is sort of eye-to-eye with me, and my daughter can put on my sneakers.
Suddenly I’m the precise age my mom was when she left this Earth.
And all I would like is extra time. If I might resolve to make extra time, I’d.
So, I do the factor that comforts me: I’m going to the dictionary, and I study the foundation of “decision” is Latin – resolvere, which suggests “loosen, undo, launch.”
Who knew?
Resolvere sounds light, and simply what I would like, and possibly you do, too.
Maybe this new 12 months could be a loosening.
