Matthew Warchus To Direct, Enda Walsh To Write


Matthew Warchus (Matilda: The Musical) is ready to direct the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang reimagining within the works from Amazon MGM Studios and EON Productions, Amazon stated Thursday.

Warchus will work from a script by Enda Walsh (Small Things Like These). The movie, which Deadline informed you about first, is in early levels of improvement and builds on EON and Amazon MGM’s partnership on the James Bond franchise.

Originally conceived by Bond writer Ian Fleming as a bedtime story for his son Casper, his 1964 novel Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was beforehand tailored right into a 1967 movie directed by Ken Hughes off a script by Roald Dahl, Hughes and Richard Maibaum. The story is a whimsical household journey following inventor Caractacus Potts (Dick Van Dyke), his two kids and Truly Scrumptious (Sally Anne Howes) — daughter of sweet manufacturing unit proprietor Lord Scrumptious (James Robertson Justice)— as they restore an outdated automotive, which seems to have magical skills, together with flight and water navigation. A two-time BAFTA nominee, Warchus’ credit as director embrace Matilda: The Musical and Pride starring Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton and Dominic West. He is repped by The Agency.
