Police, residents clear 13 tonnes of rubbish from Yagamso river in Itanagar – Times of India

ITANAGAR: A staggering 12.96 tonnes of rubbish had been faraway from Yagamso River throughout a cleanup drive right here on Saturday. The drive, organised by the Youth Mission for Clean River (YMCR) in collaboration with the Capital Police beneath their ‘Police Ajin’ initiative, a citizen-centric policing programme, noticed enthusiastic participation from the local people, together with members of the colony welfare committee, Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) corporator of Ward 10, ward members, and a big group of ladies police personnel.
The cleanup drive, supported by the Itanagar Smart City Development Corporation Limited and Abralow Memorial Multipurpose Society (AMMS), mobilised over 200 volunteers, together with law enforcement officials, YMCR volunteers, and colony residents, a press launch said.
Capital SP Rohit Rajbir Singh, who actively participated within the cleanup, mentioned the initiative was aimed toward celebrating the New Year by demonstrating the Capital Police’s dedication to serving the group in varied capacities. He recommended YMCR for its constant efforts in selling sustainable residing and organizing common river cleanups.
“We hope that YMCR’s efforts will encourage a behavioural change in direction of sustainable residing among the many individuals,” the SP mentioned.
YMCR chairman S D Loda expressed gratitude to the Capital Police for his or her partnership within the cleanup drive.
Loda urged the group to undertake sustainable practices saying, “We can’t resolve the waste disaster with out altering our behaviour. This cleanup is only one step. Real change will come when each particular person begins segregating waste at their houses and refrains from polluting the surroundings.”
IMC corporator Yukar Yaro burdened on the significance of collective effort in retaining town clear, acknowledging that the company alone can’t shoulder this accountability.
