Prince William ‘shocked and saddened’ by dying of former nanny’s stepson in New Orleans terrorist assault

Prince William and the royal household paid tribute to a British man killed within the New Orleans terrorist assault. 

Edward Pettifer, 31, was recognized as one of many victims concerned within the assault on Bourbon Street within the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.

Pettifer was from London, and his stepmother is a former nanny to Prince William and Prince Harry.

“Catherine and I’ve been shocked and saddened by the tragic dying of Ed Pettifer,” a press release shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official Instagram mentioned. 

“Our ideas and prayers stay with the Pettifer household and all these harmless individuals who have been tragically impacted by this horrific assault.”

The assertion concluded with the letter W, as Prince William signed off on the tribute posted on social media. 

In the Nineties, Pettifer’s stepmother, Alexandra “Tiggy” Legge-Bourke, was a nanny to Prince William and Prince Harry.

The Pettifer household shared a press release issued by London’s Metropolitan Police.

“The whole household are devastated on the tragic information of Ed’s dying in New Orleans. He was a beautiful son, brother, grandson, nephew and a good friend to so many.

“We will all miss him terribly. Our ideas are with the opposite households who’ve misplaced their members of the family resulting from this horrible assault. We request that we will grieve the lack of Ed as a household in non-public. Thank you.”

King Charles was reportedly deeply saddened to be taught of Pettifer’s dying and had been in contact with the household to cross on his private condolences, in accordance with Reuters.

Buckingham Palace didn’t instantly reply to Fox News Digital’s request for remark.

Pettifer’s father, Charles, a former British military officer, married “Tiggy” in 1999, shortly after she had stepped down as nanny to Prince William and Prince Harry.

The household remained near British royalty, and Pettifer’s stepbrother Tom was a web page at William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011. 

At least 14 folks have been killed in Wednesday’s assault, and dozens of others have been injured, the FBI mentioned.

Heartbroken household and buddies moved to determine the rising variety of victims after Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who regulation enforcement has recognized as the person who carried out the assault, plowed a pickup truck into a big crowd on Bourbon Street.

Jabbar was “hell-bent on creating the carnage and injury that he did,” New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick mentioned.

“It was very intentional conduct,” the superintendent of police added. “This man was attempting to run over as many individuals as he probably might.”
