Putin accuses West of pushing Russia to its “purple strains” forcing it to reply

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday accused the West of pushing Russia to its “purple strains” – conditions it has publicly made clear it is not going to tolerate – and mentioned Moscow had been pressured to reply.

Putin informed a gathering of defence officers that Russia was watching the U.S. growth and potential deployment of quick and medium-range missiles with concern.

He mentioned Russia would raise all of its personal voluntary restrictions on the deployment of its personal missiles if the U.S. went forward and deployed such missiles.
