AFI Awards choices are made via a jury course of the place AFI trustees, artists, critics and students decide the 12 months’s most excellent achievements and supply inventive and cultural context for the choice of every honoree. Honorees will collect on Friday, January 10, for recognition on the annual AFI Awards non-public luncheon on the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills.

This 12 months’s juries — one for movement footage and one for tv — included artists Sterlin Harjo, Gale Anne Hurd, Charles Melton, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Jane Seymour; students Mark Harris, Leonard Maltin and extra from Syracuse University, the University of Southern California and the University of California, Santa Cruz; members of the AFI Board of Trustees; critics Ann Hornaday, Mary McNamara, Janet Maslin, Peter Travers and others from The New Yorker, NPR, TV Guide and extra.
The juries have been chaired by AFI Board of Trustees member Jeanine Basinger and AFI Board of Trustees Vice Chair Richard Frank.
