The Biden administration has informally notified the U.S. Congress of a proposed $8 billion arms sale to Israel that features munitions for fighter jets and assault helicopters, Axios reported on Friday, citing two sources.

The deal would want approval from House and Senate committees and consists of artillery shells and air-to-air missiles for fighter jets to defend in opposition to threats corresponding to drones, the report stated.

The State Department didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.

“The President has made clear Israel has a proper to defend its residents, in line with worldwide legislation and worldwide humanitarian legislation, and to discourage aggression from Iran and its proxy organizations,” a U.S. official was quoted by Axios as saying.
