‘What?!?’: Seth Meyers Exposes Trump’s Empty Promise With A Jarring Contrast

Seth Meyers on Monday identified the stark distinction between one among Donald Trump’s pre-election coverage guarantees and what the president-elect is admitting now.

The “Late Night” host aired a montage of Trump on the 2024 marketing campaign trial promising that his proposed tariffs on imported merchandise will imply costs come down and can “make America reasonably priced once more.”

Meyers contrasted that with Trump admitting to NBC’s Kristen Welker in an interview that aired this weekend that he can’t truly assure that.

“What?!?” requested Meyers. “When you have been campaigning, you have been guaranteeing all the pieces. ‘Prices will come down, America will likely be revered.’ And now that you simply’ve received, you’re coming off like an inspirational Instagram put up.”

“Trump out of the blue can’t assure that his insurance policies received’t do the one factor he constantly promised to not do, and the one factor everybody mentioned they might do, and that’s for an apparent motive,” Meyers continued.

“Tariffs increase costs. Everyone is aware of that,” he defined. “If you need to argue that tariffs are essential to curtail overseas imports of stuff like automobiles or metal to be able to increase home manufacturing of these issues, then wonderful. But you may’t argue they magically decrease costs once they do the alternative.”

Meyers then took a flip. “Why the hell am I explaining this? No one cares,” he mentioned, earlier than joking as a Trump voter: “Oh, I believe we made a mistake. I believe we did.”
