Alabama A&M LB Burnett dies from head damage

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — An Alabama A&M soccer participant who suffered a head damage throughout a recreation in October has died.

Medrick Burnett Jr., 20, was taking part in his first season as a linebacker with Alabama A&M when he sustained the damage in the course of the annual Magic City Classic in opposition to in-state rival Alabama State on Oct. 26, the Jefferson County coroner stated in an announcement Friday. The coroner listed his official time of demise as Wednesday night.

The Alabama A&M athletic division introduced Burnett’s demise Wednesday morning after which sent out a retraction later that day. The second assertion stated the preliminary information of Burnett’s demise got here “from a right away member of the family on Tuesday night.”
