Georgia moved as much as No. 2 behind Oregon in The Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday, Texas and Penn State remained within the prime 5 after dropping convention championship video games and Arizona State appeared within the prime 10 for the primary time in a decade.
Unbeaten Oregon, with its win over Penn State within the Big Ten title sport, will go into the College Football Playoff because the No. 1 group for the eighth straight week and the unanimous selection for the sixth in a row. The ballot was launched shortly earlier than the CFP rankings.
Alabama and SMU, each hoping for the ultimate at-large spot within the playoff, had been Nos. 11 and 12, respectively, within the Top 25.
Georgia’s extra time win over Texas within the Southeastern Conference championship sport earned the Bulldogs a three-spot promotion. The Bulldogs, like Oregon, locked up a first-round bye within the playoff.
Notre Dame, idle Saturday and in line for an at-large playoff bid, rose one spot to No. 3 for its highest rating since late within the 2020 season. Texas and Penn State every slipped two spots and had been set to be at-large playoff picks.
Ohio State, Tennessee, Boise State, Indiana and Arizona State — all set to be within the playoff — rounded out the highest 10.
