Just in time for the vacations, a brand new model of the so-called “Christmas tree cluster” exhibits a green-tinged picture of younger stars that resembles the grumpy Grinch character.
The Grinchy Christmas tree cluster, named NGC 2264, is a gaggle of younger stars between one and 5 million years outdated. (For comparability, the Sun is a middle-aged star about 5 billion years outdated—1,000 instances older.)
