If you’re into beers, you’d perceive that the rise of microbreweries in India has been nothing wanting exceptional. Once thought-about synonymous with cities like Bangalore, the idea of craft beers has unfold throughout the nation, providing beer fans one thing distinctive and native to sip on. Delhi, specifically, has seen a rising love for freshly brewed, artisanal beers. Recently, I visited a newly open spot within the metropolis – Asur: Microbrewery & Kitchen – based mostly in Moti Nagar.
My go to began with a fast tour of the brewing space. Massive stainless-steel tanks stood within the house, the place the group labored on all the things – from brewing to fermentation. It was fascinating to see the elements that go into the preparation of beers, varied malts like Wheat Pale, Vienna, Caraaroma, and so forth. and even hops like Mosaic, Willamette, Colombus, Saaz, and so forth. Each of those elements performed a key position within the beer’s character – be it sweetness, bitterness, or aroma.
Once the tour wrapped up, I used to be able to strive their beers. Their craft beer menu has six totally different choices – every with its personal attraction. First up, there’s Scotch Ale: Smooth and calmly smoky with hints of caramel sweetness. Perfect for many who choose easygoing beers. This was adopted by IPA (New England): Hop-forward with juicy tropical flavours, this one’s for individuals who love daring, punchy beers. There Marzen is a crisp and refreshing German-style lager, which is straightforward but completely balanced.
Then got here Stout – with its wealthy and creamy flavours of espresso and chocolate – this drink is clean and indulgent, virtually like dessert. The final two are Witbier and X-Tra Strong Lager. The former is a lightweight, citrusy, and refreshing drink with hints of orange peel, whereas the latter is daring, malty, and packs a punch for many who take pleasure in a stronger kick.
View on InstagramPersonally, fruity and citrusy tones are my desire, so I appreciated Witbier probably the most.
After having a hearty spherical of beers, we jumped proper to the meals menu. I began with quite a lot of starters that completely set the tone for the meal. Ordering very first thing on the desk, I began with the traditional Chilli Chicken, which was spicy, tangy, and had simply the correct amount of warmth.
Next up, I craved seafood, and what higher option to sate it than by ordering the scrumptious and succulent Amritsari Fish? It was crisp on the surface and tender on the within – an ideal burst of flavours and textures. Butter Garlic Prawns, with their juicy and buttery goodness, positively steal the present. Even the dahi ke kebab was the proper accompaniment to this group of dishes.
To wash down the starters, I sipped on two drinks – Mr Banarasiya and Bloody Alloy. The first one had a refreshing punch with flavours that jogged my memory of traditional Banarasi notes, whereas the latter was daring and distinctive, and had a ravishing orange color.
For the primary course, I indulged in Butter Chicken and Naan, a mix I can by no means say no to. The butter hen was wealthy, creamy, and had simply the proper stability of sweetness and spice. Paired with mushy naan, it was consolation meals at its finest. To wrap up my expertise, I dug into two desserts – a New York Cheesecake topped with raspberry sauce. And the irresistible Chocolate Mud Cake. Dense, wealthy and oh-so-gooey, it was each chocolate lover’s dream.
All-in-all, my expertise at Asur Microbrewery was memorable. I am unable to wait to return for one more spherical of deliciousness!
