More now from Zaina Shahla, who lives within the centre of Damascus and talks about spoke to me about worry within the capital metropolis.
As we reported earlier, footage on social media suggests there have been anti-Assad protests within the suburbs of Damascus, whereas there have been claims within the US that these suburbs may fall to the rebels rapidly.
She says that other than these movies, she has not seen any protests within the centre of Damascus – and that completely different folks dwelling within the capital have completely different views concerning the rebels.
The worry, she says, comes from a way of uncertainty.
“We are afraid as a result of we actually don’t know what’s going to occur,” she mentioned. “Nobody needs to see combating in Damascus.”
Zaina added: “Everything is ambiguous and nothing is obvious for anybody.”
Her household have remained in Damascus all through Syria’s civil warfare, and haven’t thought-about fleeing – till now.
While they don’t seem to be planning on leaving but, Zaina mentioned, “if issues escalate in a dramatic method or a harmful method, possibly we are going to give it some thought”.
