All that oil that was shoveled up and positioned in giant plastic luggage on Dec 18, 2024, was by no means faraway from the seashores. And, you guessed it: it’s all washing again out to sea,(at timestamp 6:45) and that mess not floats, due to all of the sand that’s caught to the oil. This, sadly, truly makes issues so much worse.
The oil initially floated after the breakup and sinking of the primary two* Russian tankers. It was very slowly being degraded by mild, wave motion, and oxidation. The operative phrases are very slowly. And through the time it’s floating on the floor it’s doom to birds and sea life. But as soon as it’s on the seaside it may be scooped up (with the connected sand, flotsam, seaweeds, and many others.) and brought away to a nationwide sacrifice website the place it is going to be safely saved for eons till the Dinosaurs in the end return to assert their very earlier ancestors. But now it doesn’t float on the highest of the water anymore, it floats at numerous ranges below the floor, which is relying on the quantity/weight of sand that sticks to it. So it’s going to journey across the Black and Mediterranean Sea contained in the armored plastic bag it was sealed inside. And step by step it can discover a comfy place to retire and calm down on the seabed and await The Second Coming of The Dinosaurs.
*They apparently have been joined on the seabed by a 3rd Russian tanker in the present day. It apparently is ‘Homecoming Week’ for the Ruskie Fleet.
