The first trailer for “Death of a Unicorn,” a black comedy starring Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd, has been launched by A24. Written and directed by Alex Scharfman, the movie follows Elliot (Rudd) and Riley (Ortega), a father-daughter duo that by accident kills a unicorn.
The official synopsis of the movie reads: “A father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) by accident hit and kill a unicorn whereas en path to a weekend retreat, the place his billionaire boss (Richard E. Grant) seeks to take advantage of the creature’s miraculous healing properties.” The darkly comedic trailer exhibits the ugly hit and run that kills the unicorn and the lengths Elliot and Riley go to cover their crime. Eventually, they notice that the unicorn’s blood and shavings from its horn can treatment most cancers.
“Death of a Unicorn” marks Scharfman’s directorial debut, having beforehand served as a producer on “Blow the Man Down” and “Resurrection.” Ari Aster will function govt producer with John Carpenter composing the movie’s rating alongside son Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.
The movie additionally stars Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, Richard E. Grant, Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani and Jessica Hynes
Filming for “Death of a Unicorn” started in Hungary in July 2023 and continued by the SAG-AFTRA strike after manufacturing was granted a waiver. The movie is produced by Tyler Campellone and Lars Knudsen for Square Peg, Tim Headington and Theresa Steel Page for Ley Line Entertainment and Drew Houpts and Lucas Joaquin for Secret Engine.
