Judy Greer spills tea on turning down ‘Modern Family’ audition for main function

Judy Greer was in her early 30’s when she was requested to audition for ‘Modern Family’

Judy Greer opened up about her determination to show down the Modern Family audition for a lead function.

In a latest dialog with Modern Family alum Jesse Tyler Ferguson on his Dinner’s on Me podcast, Greer recalled being requested to audition for Claire Dunphy, the matriarch ultimately performed by Julie Bowen.

“This was a time in my profession once I was beginning to [play characters with children],” she started.

“In a film, I’d have a child. And then there was this chance to audition the place I’d have three children, certainly one of them in highschool, and on a TV present… and also you do have to consider this stuff in success,” she continued the sincere rationalization. 

“Obviously Modern Family was an enormous success. In a film, folks sort of see it after which they neglect. In a TV present, it is similar to, you are a mother,” Greer added.

While unsure if she would have gotten the half, the Halloween actress admitted that she wasn’t able to tackle the “America’s mother” function then.

At 49, the actress mirrored on being in her early 30s when she was known as for the audition. 

At the time, she felt the function was “so limiting in comparison with what I used to be doing already,” as she labored on totally different movies, filmed in numerous areas, and travelled continuously.

Although Greer did not be a part of the primary forged, she did make a visitor look in Modern Family season one as Denise, an ex-girlfriend of Claire’s husband, Phil (Ty Burrell).
