“It’s like a vacation boot camp,” says royal writer Robert Jobson.

“One minute you’re mingling, the subsequent you’re dashing to vary for drinks, then it’s time for supper—no room for leisure!”

Christmas Eve, typically described as a merry whirlwind of current opening and joyous chaos, segues into Xmas Day with the spotlight—a royal stroll to church, the one public side of their festivities.

Following the well-known stroll, it’s champagne (Veuve Clicquot, naturally), adopted by dinner at exactly 1pm.

But the actual magic occurs after the turkey and tinsel settle.

The royals collect within the elegant saloon, the place afternoon tea and a spherical of corny cracker jokes—the late Queen’s favourite custom—wrap up a very regal vacation affair.

After indulging in a lavish Christmas feast, the Royal Family retires to Sandringham’s elegant saloon, an area match for each royal duties and festive leisure.

This double-height room, that includes wealthy wooden panelling, ornate chandeliers, and a Minstrel’s gallery, turns into the guts of their vacation celebrations because the household gathers to observe King Charles’ pre-recorded Christmas message at 3pm—standing for the National Anthem, after all.
