LAX air visitors controller steps in to keep away from close to collision on runway involving jet carrying Gonzaga basketball staff

The Federal Aviation Administration will examine a close to collision between a personal jet carrying the Gonzaga University males’s basketball staff and a Delta flight at LAX final Friday afternoon. 

It occurred on Dec. 27 as Key Lime Air Flight 563, the aircraft carrying the basketball staff, taxied to its gate following its arrival from Spokane, Washington. Air visitors controllers informed the crew to not cross the runway since one other plane was taking off at identical the time, in accordance with a press release from the FAA. 

The staff’s chartered jet, an Embraer E135, “proceeded to cross the maintain bars” after receiving the path, in accordance with the FAA. 

As the Delta flight lifted off the runway, an air visitors controller uttered over the radio “Key Lime, cease, cease cease.”

The jet promptly stopped and “by no means crossed the runway edge line,” in accordance with the FAA. The air visitors controller allowed Key Lime Air Flight 563 to cross the runway and head to its gate after the Delta flight left the airport. 

A YouTube channel known as Airline Videos Live recorded the incident. 

Gonzaga performed UCLA on Dec. 28 and misplaced 65-62. They have one other sport in Los Angeles County in opposition to Pepperdine University at 7 p.m., Monday.
