(Reuters) – Elon Musk’s synthetic intelligence startup xAI plans to increase its Memphis, Tennessee, supercomputer to deal with no less than a million graphics processing models (GPUs), the Greater Memphis Chamber stated on Wednesday, as xAI races to compete towards rivals like OpenAI.
The transfer represents a large enlargement for the supercomputer known as Colossus, which at the moment has 100,000 GPUs to coach xAI’s chatbot known as Grok.
As a part of the enlargement, Nvidia, which provides the GPUs, and Dell and Super Micro, which have assembled the server racks for the pc, will set up operations in Memphis, the chamber stated in an announcement.
