New Dinosaur Joins the Crew on the UWS American Museum of Natural History; See It December 8

Children of all ages rejoice! A brand new dinosaur is quickly becoming a member of the world-renowned assortment on the American Museum of Natural History — and it’s open for public viewing this Sunday, December 8.

The new dinosaur, generally known as “Apex,” is a Stegosaurus — believed to be the most important ever discovered. It is 11.5 toes tall, 27 toes lengthy, and 80 p.c full, which signifies that a lot of the fossils comprising it are actual.

“It was remarkably nicely preserved for the previous 150 million years,” stated Sean M. Decatur, president of the Museum.

Apex is on a particular four-year mortgage to the AMNH from Kenneth C. Griffin, a financier and philanthropist, who purchased it at public sale from Sotheby’s for $45 million in July of 2024, in line with a museum supply.
