Petrol worth jacked up by Rs3.47 per litre

ISLAMABAD: The federal authorities has elevated the value of petrol by Rs3.47 per litre for the following fortnight of January 2025.

According to the Finance Division notification, the per litre worth of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been elevated from Rs258.34 to Rs260.95 after a rise of Rs2.61.

“The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has labored out the patron costs of petroleum merchandise in view of the fluctuations within the worldwide market within the final fortnight,” learn the official notification.

It mentioned the brand new gasoline costs shall be efficient from January 16.

The hike in petroleum costs is attributed to rising worldwide oil costs, pushed by the US sanctions on oil exports to China and India.

In the wake of those sanctions, the value of crude oil has surged previous $81 per barrel—the very best since August 2024—amid concern over the affect of US transport restrictions on Russian oil provides.

Earlier this month, the federal government had elevated the value of petrol by Re0.56 per litre on New Year’s Eve, for the primary fortnight of 2025.
