Sum 41 cancel Australian tour, with Deryck Whibley “too unwell to carry out”

Sum 41 have introduced the cancellation of their Australia tour, citing Deryck Whibley’s battle with pneumonia.

News.com.au reported as we speak (December 5) that the pop-punk band made the announcement on a Facebook put up, which has since been deleted: “It is with deep disappointment and remorse that we announce our 2024 Australian tour is unable to proceed,” they wrote, including that they had been “past excited” to “join with our Aussie followers as soon as extra.”

Sum 41 intend to disband after their present Tour of the Setting Sum tour, which concludes on January 30, 2025. The Australia dates had been set to be the band’s final performances of the 12 months.

In their assertion, they added that Whibley has been “below the steering and path of a number of Australian medical doctors”, and that the cancellation is because of the truth that “Deryck is simply too unwell to carry out”.

Sum 41 had been set to co-headline Good Things Festival with Korn in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney this weekend. The pageant relayed the announcement on social media, including that “Deryck’s well being and wellbeing is the main target and precedence”.

The pageant remains to be set to host Korn together with Violent Femmes, Mastodon, Billy Corgan, Jet, and Slayer‘s Kerry King, amongst others, beginning Friday (December 6) in Melbourne.

Whibley not too long ago printed his memoir Walking Disaster, by which he accused Grieg Nori – who can also be the frontman for fellow pop-punk group Treble Charger – of grooming him, in addition to sexually and verbally abusing him for years.

Nori denied the allegations, claiming to the Toronto Star that it was Whibley who initiated the connection, in addition to saying that accusations of “grooming” had been false as they had been each allegedly adults when the connection started.

Whibley responded, saying: “If you suppose I’m a liar, there is just one method to settle this: below oath. In entrance of a decide, in entrance of a jury, anytime you need. I’m prepared each time you might be.”
