Superdome welcomes Sugar Bowl followers after New Orleans terror assault

College soccer followers flocked to the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Thursday afternoon to get into the stadium forward of the Sugar Bowl after it was postponed over a terror assault.

More than a dozen folks have been killed, and several other extra have been injured, when Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove a truck right into a crowd on Bourbon Street within the wee hours of New Year’s Day, officers stated. The terror assault compelled the postponement of the sport between Georgia and Notre Dame.

While some fans determined to return dwelling as a substitute of attending the sport, others have been seen entering into the grounds across the Superdome and going by safety.

Authorities opened Bourbon Street hours earlier than the sport.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry said he was going to attend the sport.

Sugar Bowl officers stated that pregame pageantry will start at 2:15 p.m. CT with kickoff set for 3 p.m. CT. The pageantry begins with the nationwide anthem, a Sugar Bowl mild present after which performances by every faculty’s marching band.

“We stay surprised and saddened by the New Year’s Day tragedy in New Orleans,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey stated in a submit on X.
