Weddings are sometimes grand celebrations of affection and custom, however for one household in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district, the joyous event became a nightmarish fiasco. The groom, enraged over a slight delay in serving meals, deserted the ceremony, leaving the bride and her household in shock. To add insult to damage, he tied the knot together with his cousin the exact same day. The incident has left the bride’s household looking for justice and reeling from a monetary and emotional blow.

A weird incident unfolded in Chandauli’s Hamidpur village when Mehtab, the groom, walked out of his wedding ceremony over an alleged delay in meals service. According to the bride, her marriage had been organized with Mehtab seven months in the past, and preparations have been in full swing.

On December 22, Mehtab and his kin have been warmly welcomed as the marriage procession arrived at her home. However, tensions flared when a slight delay in serving meals reportedly led to teasing by his associates. Infuriated, Mehtab and his household allegedly abused and assaulted the bride’s household earlier than abruptly leaving the venue.

Despite efforts by village elders to mediate, Mehtab refused to proceed with the marriage. Hours later, the bride’s household realized that he had married considered one of his cousins. Shocked and outraged, they approached the police looking for justice.

The bride’s mom claimed in her grievance that the household suffered a lack of Rs 7 lakh attributable to wedding ceremony bills and preparations for 200 friends. Additionally, Rs 1.5 lakh was handed over to the groom’s household hours earlier than the ceremony.

The bride and her household later escalated the matter to Superintendent of Police (SP) Aditya Laghe, prompting mediation between the 2 events. Eventually, a written settlement was signed, stating that Rs 1.61 lakh could be returned to the bride’s household as compensation, in response to Circle Officer Rajesh Rai.
